This busy Belcaro family—with two young daughters—was seeking a sophisticated, art-forward enhancement to their existing minimal, stark interiors. At the same time, these clients asked us to accommodate both parents’ work-from-home lifestyle and the inherent clutter of children’s toys through strategic storage, while still achieving an elevated design impact. We began by immersing ourselves in the client’s art collection, which included both Asian artifacts and framed pieces of varying size and scale. That exploration led to a color palette of earthy colors accented with jewel tones, which we balanced with neutral, custom drapery throughout the home. Layering rich materials like velvet, silk, leather, mohair and oxidized oak helped to achieve a rich, distinctive sense of texture, while focusing on strategic visual focal points in each room helped ensure the aesthetic felt organic, rather than forced. The result is a visually stunning, yet livable home that features moments of artful elegance in every room.
