Heritage Redefined
Neighborhood: Observatory Park, Denver
Project Scope: Remodeling + Interior Design
After inheriting her grandmother’s Observatory Park home, we were commissioned by this client to integrate a sense of tradition with her desire for a more contemporary, functional design and layout. Structurally, we focused on opening up the home’s compartmentalized interior, with a particular focus on establishing the kitchen as a central showpiece and gathering space. Having grown up on the East Coast, the client gravitated toward a Ralph Lauren-inspired “Upstate New York aesthetic,” with a consistent lakeside blue theme. This was balanced by a warm wood-and-iron scheme and the preservation of select vintage-inspired rugs and Western-leaning furnishings that nodded to her grandmother’s 30-year residency in Colorado. The addition of several other strategic finishes—from high-end hardware, to a handmade tile backsplash and the upgrade of the original fireplace with a modern black herringbone tile—we were able to fulfill the client’s personal vision, while still preserving a larger sense of family heritage.
